About Silencio

Born in Chionglin Shin-ju, in 1946,Hsu Jen-Shiu was brought up in rural areas, and was inspired from a very early age by the beauty of nature, and he often dreamed of exploring the remote comers of the world.

In his youth, he traveled first to the mountains in Taiwan, then many exotic areas in different countries. During these days, he had started his photography and writing career.

In the 1960s,Jen-Shiu witnessed how rapid the development and modernization had destroyed Taiwan´s natural environment. This prompted him to begin advocating his pioneering ecosystem protection concept. He immediately involved himself in this activity, first by means of photography and writing, then through educating, guiding and writing, then through educating, guiding and directing fieldwork to the younger generation.

In 1995,he founded 〝The Society of Wilderness〞－an intensified organization, which devoted to nature preservation.
